BayFM is about to welcome a keen bunch of new folks to join our Spring Radio Presenters Course and we’re so excited it’s being held entirely at the station this September. The response so far has been incredible! We’ve been inundated with enquiries and only have 2 spots left as of today.

The course is running over the four Saturdays in September from 9.30am – 1.30pm and judging by the community response there’s a whole lot of people who love BayFM and have been waiting for an opportunity like this to come along.

You’ll learn what it takes to become a presenter; create engaging content and a whole lot you might not know about the CBAA (Community Broadcasting Association of Australia) who govern the 400+ community radio stations alive and kicking across the nation.

Understanding and learning more about all aspects of radio means you might be inspired to start volunteering in other areas of the station too. You could be the next interview co-ordinator or front desk darling, maybe you’re a whiz at socials or putting on awesome events or perhaps you might even be the dream carpenter we’ve been looking for to do some jobs around the station!

When people walk into BayFM they enter into another world. We often hear people say, “it feels like a submarine in here” as they walk through the metallic coloured rooms, past the wall of presenter’s pigeonholes and into one of three studios. Studios 1 & 2 go live to air, and the third can often be found full of sponsors creating announcements with our producer Alain. It’s an addictive, exciting and energising environment to be in.

Radio Courses like the ones we’re offering you will teach you more than just how to make radio. They’ll offer you life lessons and unexpected gifts along the way that will continually arise during your time at the station.

A network of likeminded people has come together for over 35 years to create the same thing in so many different ways. Each show you hear has been carefully crafted and takes a high-level of commitment, not just to the show being presented but to the future of independent creative media.

By enrolling in our courses and learning more about what it means to be part of the community radio sector, you are directly supporting one of the last remaining outlets for free speech and creative expression, as well as the daily financial grind of maintaining a radio station situated in the very heart of Byron Bay.

BayFM is a sparkling jewel in the crown of the Byronshire, connecting us all in its unobtrusively seductive way, ensuring that no one ever need be alone. If you are keen to be part of this rocking radio station in some way shape or form or think one of the 2 remaining spots in the September intake has your name on it, then reach out – [email protected] but make it quick cause its first in first served!

If you miss out this time round don’t despair. You can still volunteer without having a show. What a great way to immerse yourself in the station and find your way. We offer lots of support and encouragement!

Keep an eye and ear out for future learning opportunities, we’ll continue to invite you to be part of your community radio station – the grooviest station in the nation!
