The vibes were high at the inaugural BAY VIBES held on Dec 11 at The Beach Hotel’s surfside
venue The Shack.
Breaking down the week in style, the dance party fundraiser was held on a Thursday with no
shortage of punters ready to soak up the salty atmosphere overlooking Byron Bay.
“We were super stoked to bring so many beautiful locals back to this iconic local setting for the
benefit of a vital local community service.” said co-host Nell Schofield who along with DJ Danu
Lynch curated the pre-Christmas happening to raise funds for Bay FM 99.9 and celebrate its
35th year on air.
The event made $8,960 for the station through ticket and raffle sales and a merchandise table
which featured new T-shirts designed by local artist Paul McNeil.
With 14 DJs playing back to back, BAY VIBES has set a new standard for dance parties in the
region.

“All the DJs had so much fun riffing off each other in their one hour sets. We’re already planning
another BAY VIBES for a different local charity next year.” said Danu who played B2B with local
headliner Jason Lewis.
Danu and Jason were flanked by Bay FM DJ’s Lippo, Balasko, Andrew Haig, Ilias the Greek,
Pedro, Sammy KC, Lainie Godiva and Andrea Jones. Also on the decks helping to raise the
frequency were GI Jode, Abel Toro, Danco, Peppin and Kate Monroe.
The Beach Hotel generously contributed to the success of the event with other local
businesses jumping onboard with raffle prizes – Vision Walks, Ninbella, Jilly Wines, Cosmic
Yoga, The Treehouse, Brunswick Picture House, Beach Restaurant, Cunning Stunts, The
Healing Hub, I’m A Catch, Byron Yoga Centre and Ice Creamy Dyes.
“There is really something special about this community,” said Schofield. “It really knows how to
go the distance for a worthy local cause and I’m so proud to be a part of it.”
