BayFM was well represented at the 2025 National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters Conference which successfully brought together multicultural broadcasters for two days of professional development and networking in Melbourne.
The event featured practical workshops on grant writing and podcast production, insightful
panels about women in media, and thought-provoking discussions about cultural diversity in
modern broadcasting. A highlight was John Galzari’s powerful testimony about how ethnic
media supports refugee integration.
The conference also addressed governance challenges following the AGM’s rejection of
constitutional changes to expand voting rights. During this emotionally charged debate, BayFMs Fred Ramzini facilitated a neutral resolution by identifying critical flaws in the voting process. His subsequent proposal for electronic voting was well-received as a solution to ensure fairer future outcomes.
Fred Ramanzini is a member of BayFMs Multicultural Group and presents the Latin show Lusofonia. He was joined by fellow members Judy Shelly and Nance Jo Falcone, both of whom have been with the Station of nearly 20 years.

The event balanced professional development with networking opportunities, including
welcome drinks and a Gala Dinner in which outstanding contributors to multicultural
broadcasting were awarded. Attendees left equipped with actionable strategies to
strengthen their stations while the NEMBC committed to implementing more inclusive voting systems before the 2026 AGM.
