On the 28th of February, residents of Feros Village Byron Bay were advised that the Board had decided to close the Aged Care Facility and redevelop the site to create an intergenerational space more in line with the needs of contemporary seniors housing.

This came as a very rude shock to the 36 residents, many of whom are lifetime locals and thought they would see out their remaining years in the leafy surrounds of the home.

Family and friends of residents have since organised rallies and meetings and now a GoFund Me Campaign to raise the legal fees needed to continue the battle of those residents who want to stay put.

Maree Eddings is leading the campaign for her father and others to have a say in their future. She spoke with BayFM about the Fight for Feros.
