Jessica Alice is the new director of the Byron Writers Festival and her line up looks pretty impressive indeed with Trent Dalton, Bruce Pascoe and Jane Harper to name a few.
Some of this years’ guest writers were scheduled for 2021 but the Festival was cancelled due to covid – Richard Flanagan is one. His latest work ‘Question 7’ is described by Tim Winton as ‘the strangest and most beautiful memoir I’ve ever read’. Peter Carey said ‘it may just be the most significant work of Australian art in the last 100 years.’ Wowza!
Local favourite Bruce Pascoe is coming up with his wife Lyn Harwood to present their new book ‘Black Duck: A Year at Yumburra. It’s a deeply personal reflection on life, Country and the consequences of Dark Emu through six seasons on their farm.
Jane Harper’s most recent novel, Exiles, continues on from her book ‘Dry’ which was made into a fabulous movie starring Eric Bana. Exile’s has Eric’s character investigating a mother’s disappearance at a regional festival. Could it be a writer’s festival?
The Byron Writers’ Festival runs from August 9 – 11.
