Plans are afoot for the 50th anniversary of the Aquarius Festival in Nimbin, birthplace of Australia’s counter culture.
Greg Bork has taken on the not insubstantial job of Festival Administrator and has been collecting interviews with people who were there on the ground, breaking ground for a new generation of alternative thinkers.
Over ten themed days in May, Aquarius50 will take stock of that legacy starting with a First Nations Day.
The original 1973 festival is said to be the first where a Welcome to Country was negotiated. It also focused on creating an alternative way of living together on country with workshops on Intentional Communities and renewable energy.
These ideas of getting back to the land will be revisited at Aquarius50 from May 12 – 21, 2023.
