Nov 11th Armistice Day & ASR
Dear one, As today is 11th day of the 11th month Armistice/ Remembrance/Veterans Day we remember the awful statistics of the Great War,(20 Million died) the war to end all wars;  but ofcourse it wasn’t the end of war, after that was the Second World War where even more people were killed (60 Million).  Then Korea,Vietnam and now in Iraq and Afghanistan where civilians and military personnel are still being killed.

 

We hear from a man of Peace, John Pilger who is never afraid to speak out about the power and dominance of world powers. Recently he was awarded the Sydney Peace Prize.

 

We also hear from Marnie Bonner from Australian Seabird Rescue about the new Lance Ferris Memorial Fund, being launched on the anniversary of the Pelican Mans birthday at the inaugural Lance Ferris Memorial Dinner on 12th December at the Ballina RSL Club.

Pilger awarded Peace prize

He’s been more appreciated and decorated in other parts of the world than in Australia but tonight controversial journalist John Pilger will be honoured in his own country. He’s on a rare visit here to accept the 2009 Australian peace prize at a ceremony at the Sydney Opera House tonight. He will speak on the issue of media outspokenness in Australia in a speech called "Breaking the Silence".
