FEATURE ALBUM. ROBERT PLANT. BAND OF JOY.DECCA. 2010.
Robert Plant’s album last year with Alison Krauss hinted that he was headed in a new direction. Band of Joy confirms this may be the case. Band of Joy [named after Plant’s first band] sees him collaborate with Buddy Miller who earlier worked with Steve Earle and features Patty Larkin on vocals. Comparisons are odious ssssoooo imagine Neil Young backing Plant or plant singing vocals with Steve Earle’s band. The influence of Buddy Miller is a highlight with grungy guitar supported by mandolins and banjo. Unique arrangements complimenting Plant’s crooning vocals. Definitely one for the collection and one that will feature in many best of 2010 lists. · 1. Angel Dance. Los Lobos cover. · 2. House of Cards. · 5. You Can’t Buy My Love. · 6. Falling in Love Again. · 8. Monkey. · 10. Harms Swift Way. Or perhaps the link to the past may be revisited. · 11. Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down. · 8. Nobody’s Fault but Mine. Led Zeppelin. Raising Sand. Rounder. 2007.
The Roots of Led Zeppelin. Mojo. August. 2004. · 3. Travelling Riverside Blues. Robert Johnson. · 4. Shake ‘Em On Down. · 7. Nobody’s Fault But Mine. John Renborn. · 9. You Need Love. Muddy Waters. · 10. Killing Floor. Howling Wolf. · 11. In My Time Of Dying [Jesus Make Up My Bed]. Blind Willie Johnson.
