FEATURE ALBUM: DUKE ROBILLARD- PASSPORT TO THE BLUES- STONY PLAIN 2010

It is not difficult to find a Duke Robillard album as he releases an album almost every year. It may be a blues album or Duke following his jazz or swing passions. This album has been a while coming in that it consists predominately of Robillard originals [although there is a cover of Tom Waits Make it Rain]. This album has an edginess that comes from some grungy, gritty playing and Duke’s rough vocals which won’t win any awards but are delivered with a fell for the groove. The album highlights what a great band with an exceptional guitar player can do.

·        1. Workin’ Hard For My Uncle.

·        4. Girl Let Me Tell Ya.

·        5. Rhode Island Red Rooster.
