Current Issue of Subscriber Newsletter - January, 2009

Dear Subscriber,

Thank you so very much for your support to your community radio by subscription. Not only does it help keep us on the airwaves but it is great knowing that you are listening.
Since September last year, we have introduced an on-going subscriber drive so that Bay FM listeners know they can subscribe all year round.

As an incentive we now have a major monthly prize draw for new subscribers. In October we gave away a custom made table to the value of $1000 courtesy of Billinudgel Woodworking Company, and in November we gave away tickets to the Woodford Folk Festival and in December we gave away vouchers for the Byron Arts and industry Park Artists Trail. But we haven’t forgotten you, our existing subscriber either. About every quarter we will do two major prize draws, one for new subscribers and one for you our existing subscriber. It is our way of saying thank you to the wonderful people who support this fantastic radio station.

Subscribers are eligible for all program giveaways, discounts at participating businesses around the shire, and all the other benefits of subscription. Details of each month’s major prize will feature on the Bay FM website www.bayfm.org after the first week of each month.

You will notice some changes to our website. Special thanks to Giovanni and his team for the new look. Our website features regular information services, such as upcoming Bay FM events, articles, presenter’s news; pod casts, forums, and you can listen to all your favorite shows online. You will see the new summer programming guide featuring all of your favorite shows, as well as some exciting new programs including The Friday Fluff, Searchin, and Theme Park. Congratulations to The Generator team who recently received Highly Commended recognition at the national community radio awards.

President's Letter - January, 2009

Dear BayFM listener, subscriber, supporter

A brief hello from me, Ros Elliott, who has taken on the role of President of our fabulous community radio station.

I have served as Vice President over the last year, and previously in 2004 & 5.  I would have been very willing to serve as Vice President again to Gayle Cue who has done an awesome job

of guiding our station as a professional small business.  We wish Gayle well in taking some space for herself and sincerely thank her for an outstanding year of service as President of BayFM for 2008.

Your community radio station is a very dynamic multi faceted business. To keep the superb specialist music and talk content beaming out in your car, home, workplace and computer requires a passionate mob of about 120 volunteers, and 7 part time employees.  BayFM’s door is always open for more people to get involved.

We are the community, standing up and broadcasting what the community wants to hear - local content and great music.   "Community Responsive Radio, Informing and Entertaining, Locally and Globally" -  that is BayFM’s Mission Statement. If you have ideas for programming, for our business, or anything to make your community radio even better, we’d love to hear from you.

Your financial support through subscription and local business sponsorship are essential in covering the costs of broadcasting seven days a week. This coming year we hope to gain Tax Deductibility status so that you may take advantage of this facility and our donor based fundraising will be a win—win, for the station, and you.
 
Don’t forget to take advantage of your subscriber card.  With conscientious purchasing you can save a lot of money in a year thanks to those subscriber discounting businesses. It’s another example of win-win partnership in our local area.

BayFM is of course concerned about our community and our environment. During 2009 we plan to work on limiting our own carbon footprint, as well as continuing to broadcast informative programming to help you do so as well.
