One of the most effective, easiest and certainly the cheapest way to get involved in Bay FM is to volunteer your time to help out at the station. Everyone - from the front desk people, the people running the music library, the people keeping our signal broadcasting, to those keeping this website up to date are volunteers. It's a great way to get involved in your community, to learn about radio and to get to know a bunch of 200 other great community minded people like yourself. Bay FM is Byron Shire’s community radio station and is operated on a volunteer basis by individuals and groups from the Byron Shire Community. We are proud to be diverse, independent and educational. We are a non-profit organisation committed to providing progressive broadcasting in music, the arts and current affairs. You need to be a financial Member of Bay FM which costs $10 annually. As a general rule, the Bay FM business hours are Mondays to Fridays: 9am – 5pm. Saturdays: 9am – 1pm. If you have decided that you'd like to be part of the great Bay FM team, click here to download the Volunteer Application Form. Fill it in and email, post, fax or bring it to the station. The Volunteer coordinator will then contact you to arrange a face to face interview. Things to think about for your meeting might include: what time commitment do you have, what skills you can bring to the station and what you hope to gain for yourself from your involvement with Bay FM. Bay FM is very appreciative of the people who become volunteers with the station. They are the backbone of this dynamic organisation. Give BayFM a call during business hours on 6680 7999 if you would like to discuss your volunteering with a member of the station.
