Quote from (from a review of her 'Envisioning Blue' CD in JazzTimes Magazine) 'Don't be fooled by Shelley Neill's conservative Bostonian roots or her Melanie Griffith blonde-ness. Beneath those sunny curls is a head for the blues and a torch-singer sensibility' I played her jazz track 'The Music Is The Magic' Last Week. She was born in Newark, New Jersey in the 50’s. Abandoned at birth by her Irish Catholic mother and Hungarian father. She was adopted into a Jewish family that lived in Newark. Her first CD, 'The Blues Runs Though It', looked at the impact of Blues on Jazz from a vocalist’s perspective. A 2nd CD, 'Envisioning Blue', and then the 3rd and final CD, 'entree blue,' are a musical journey that began in 1915 with Robert Johnson and Ma Rainey and ended with Miles Davis in the 1960’s.
