COLOURS OF BYRON is a light-hearted show of interviews and music that focuses on the “locals” – those who have grown up here or who have chosen this area for their home.

One or more residents of Byron or neighbouring Shires are invited into the studio each week for a chat about why they moved to Byron (which so many of us have), what they like or don’t like, and to play music that is meaningful to them. The interviews are conducted by Nella and Des , who moved to Byron in March 2006 after falling for the place during many, many visits to the area as tourists.

If you are a local and feel you have a story that could be suitable for Colours of Byron, send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or call BayFM 66 807 999 during business hours and leave a message for the show.

About your hosts RG Pedicini and Les Schmidt -

After finishing college, Richard George (RG) Pedicini began his "working" life as a writer of documentaries and radio plays for the NBC and CBS broadcasting networks.  In television, he wrote scripts for programs like Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Millionaire.  Migrating to Australia in the late 70's he opened up a production company in Sydney and for 15 years wrote, produced and directed radio and television commercials for many of the top advertising agencies.  These days he hosts a radio program on Bay FM, presenting the classics - from Shakespeare to Shostakovich.  If it's a classic, you'll eventually hear it on OMNIBUS, every Sunday from 12 NOON to 2 PM.

Sharing the program with RG, every 3rd week, is Les Schmidt with OMNIBUS JAZZ.  Being Hungarian born, he is a lover of all music including classical, pop, Latin and jazz.  Having been gifted with a voice, he started singing in his early 20's in London, first in clubs then in cabarets.  He perfectly co-hosts OMNIBUS on Bay FM presenting smooth jazz programs at Sunday lunchtime.
