Bay FM

Vale Terrie Wells ‘Red Terra’
BayFM was saddened and shocked by the news of the sudden passing of presenter and colleague Terrie Wells on Monday July 20.

terrie
Terrie (on-air name Red Terra) had been presenting her informative and
much loved programme ‘The Shakedown’ on BayFM for almost two decades.
Her lively and hard hitting programme kept listeners in the picture about
local and national environmental issues.  Over the years she interviewed
many big names of the environmental movement including David Suzuki, Peter
Garrett,  Paul Watson of Sea Sheperd, Michael Franti, Helene
Norbert-Hodge, and also on the ground activists in forests, spokesperson
for Anti Nuclear lobby, Friends of The Earth and opponents to GMO.

Terrie was a founding member of BayFM.  Her long involvement began when
she responded to a notice in the paper in 1987 about a planned meeting of people
interested in forming a Community Radio station in Byron Shire.  She was
involved in the first test broadcasts in 1990 and was on air continually
since then, except for a break when her son Jarrah was born.

Terrie was hospitalized after collapsing in her home on Thursday and died
at Tweed Hospital on Monday never having regained consciousness.

BayFM extends its deepest sympathies to her son Jarrah, her mum Ruth Wells and the Wells family.
