Passionate People 2 Apr
April 2 Passionate People

This week we speak to 4 people who are passionate about the environment.

All our music will come from local musicians to let our Bluesfest visitors know what a great musical culture we have in this region.

Helena Norberg-Hodge, economic analyst, linguist and film maker, talks about her observations of cultural changes in Ladakh and relates these to the the problems of globalisation worldwide in the second of her interview series.

Look forward to meeting Ben Pots a Byron man who has been protecting whales in Antarctica on the Sea Shepherd vessel Bob Barker; Brendan Taylor has news about discovery activities in the National Parks these holidays, and Dr Jane O'Sullivan, agricultural scientist & research fellow at Queensland Uni talks about action on climate change for Australia in the wake of Copenhagen and in particular she focuses on the problem of population growth and feeding the world.

The Transition Town movement has its second and third film nights to bring like-minded people together to forge community projects, at Mullum Council chambers on Mon 29th 6- 8.30 pm and SGB community centre on Thurs Apr 1st.

Last week we brought you the case of Natasha Verco, an Australian activist arrested in Copenhagen during the climate change conference with an interview of her mother, Maggie. If you want to support her and others and the right for peaceful protest and prevent pre-emptive arrest in Australia write now to the Danish consulate, your local member of parliament or Greens party representative.
