  • Fri 09am - The New Shakedown   ( 10 Articles )

judy borehamJudy Boreham is stepping up to the mic as the new presenter of the New Shakedown, Fridays 9 - 11 am, following closely in the footsteps of Gina Baker, her former partner in BayFM show Upstaged.

Tune in for news, views and interviews on local, national and global issues and events to do with environment, human rights and social justice. And this is the place to hear the latest in local contemporary music, a New Shakedown tradition.

    terrie 3

The Shakedown was the creation of Terrie Wells aka Red Terra. The programme debuted in 1988 on BayFm’s first mock broadcast, before the station even had an airwave. A pioneer environment programme here, indeed one of the first in Australia.
“I want to shake it up. Change urban thinking to earth thinking, get people motivated to make change and remember what really matters; that without the Earth we are nothing.”
Red loved to find experts and give them an opportunity to go deep, way beyond the 30 second grab. The show was issues based and focused mainly on Australian and local issues. Listen to campaigners and front line activists talk about climate change, nukes, genetic engineering, whales and whaling, forests and biodiversity. Also alternatives, positives, politics, politicians and globalisation.

“We live in times of giant emergency and those of us alive today have a huge responsibility: to learn to live today, so that those who come after us can have a tomorrow.”   For the Earth.

    Red Terra passed away 2009.

COLOURS OF BYRON is a light-hearted show of interviews and music that focuses on the “locals” – those who have grown up here or who have chosen this area for their home.

One or more residents of Byron or neighbouring Shires are invited into the studio each week for a chat about why they moved to Byron (which so many of us have), what they like or don’t like, and to play music that is meaningful to them.

The interviews are conducted by Nella and Des, who moved to Byron in March 2006 after falling for the place during many, many visits to the area as tourists.

If you are a local and feel you have a story that could be suitable for Colours of Byron, send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or call BayFM 66 807 999 during business hours and leave a message for the show.

  • Sat 05pm - Youthamism   ( 14 Articles )

    Sam and Damon
Youthamism is a radio programme aimed at specifically at the younger generation - (it's also a pun for those witty people out there).  Just as a 'euphemism' is "a substitution of an agreeable or less offensive expression in place of one that may offend or suggest something unpleasant to the receiver", so too does our show replace the disagreeable aspects of youth with interesting and unusual content and play a wide variety of music that appeals to both youth and you older generation people.

We have several regular sections such as Surf Source, Tech Talk and Travel Trip Tips that are especially relevant to the youth of today, and we aim to interview a new and interesting person each week about youth issues.

So tune in, kick back, and enjoy.

  • Mon 01pm - Inspiration   ( 0 Articles )

rose I hope that you will join me, Rose Gilmore, and enjoy my show 'Inspirations'.

This show will be comprised of inspirational music, poems, stories, exerpts and readings or reviews of books, and some interviews. You may find a particular piece of music inspiring because of the uplifting lyrics, melody, rhythm, quality of the singers voice or feelings conveyed, or the memory it brings when you hear it.  Some of the books will be cutting-edge medical, scientific research dealing with information which brings new unexpected hope to us all.  For example, 'The Brain That Can Change Itself' by Norman Doidge MD traces the history from believing that the brain was hard wired and unchangeable, to proving that it can change - therefore the term neuro plastic. This has led to such miracles as stroke victims learning how to regain movement of paralysed limbs again, autistic and attention deficit children being helped, blind people to see again, memory loss and alzeimers to be reversed up to 15 years. etc.
I look forward to having you join me on 'Inspirations'.
    Blessings,  Rose Gilmore.

Join Tegs and Adam on their worldwide musical tour!!

"Where to?" you might ask.... Well anywhere in the world really!!

Each week we choose a country and find ourselves an international guest. We then take you musically to that country by playing you all the classics plus new and up coming artists from that country. We make an effort to cover an assortment of genres from the classic bands to new electronic outfits that might be emerging from the local scene. Having the guest allows us to get the nitty-gritty from that country's music and festival scene.

It's like travelling without even leaving the comfort of your radio!!

The show is entertaining, occasionally educational and a bit of a laugh as we discover our differences and similarities with people from all over the world. Tegs and Adam are both extreme music and festival lovers as well as crazy travel bugs who both can't afford to travel right now so we selfishly host "Passport" to feed our travel addictions.

So if you love music, travel and a bit of a laugh…all you need is your Passport!!

matt'A Long Strange Trip' concentrated on the Music of the Grateful Dead for two years and has expanded its consciousness further in the last six months.
